The Portes du Soleil has something for everybody, and our guests have ranged from beginners putting on their skis for the first time to expert black run skiers.

Skiing & snowboarding

Take a look at the piste map to give you a better feel of the enormous ski area available to you, and use the magnifying glass to get a close-up of all the pistes.

Avoriaz, easily accessed from Morzine, provides snow-sure conditions at altitudes up to 2460m so you should always be guaranteed of finding the white stuff. There are plenty of easier slopes for novices and anybody with 2-3 weeks of experience can enjoy touring days across into Switzerland. For those seeking further thrills the area has well-maintained snow parks where you can practice your tricks in a safe environment.

Overall most ski magazines rate the Portes du Soleil as follows (out of 5 stars)

   Beginners
Intermediates
Advanced

As part of our service, we normally also offer Ski-hosting on 2 days each week to Intermediate skiers. This helps you find both the best slopes for your capability, and also the best restaurants.... all without ever looking at a piste-map!

More advanced skiers can enjoy some very challenging runs, including the infamous 'Swiss-wall', the blacks running down from Avoriaz and some excellent off-piste runs. The best of these is a 2hr run down the Vallee de la Manche which brings you past a great Creperie and neatly back to the chalet.....perfect!
